Have we crashed this party, or did we simply lose the invitation? And who is hosting, and is the party for any particular purpose? Or is just a Friday night bash?
Its quite a party though…almost 7 billion people here just now. Over the life of the party, some 100 billion people have dropped in and made their exits. About 130 million drop in each year, and around 60 million leave. Small wonder this party is getting pretty loud.
No complaints from the neighbours though. Things seem pretty quiet with Mars and some of the others…Maybe they’ve gone fishing, or simply have more interesting things to do rather than complain about the noise on Earth.
It’s a great party…all the drinks and food we can imagine, great music, terrific people…well, except it seems a lot of the folks here aren’t having such a good time. Well, maybe most of them…around 4 billion of them. Wonder why they stay.
Where’s the host? Shouldn’t he be a little more accommodating towards his guests? I’d like to really enjoy myself, but having all of those other people on a bit of a downer is a little depressing. Best we can do is turn up the music and dance harder.
I’ve asked around, and no one seems to be really clear about whose place this is. No one knows why the party was called, and no one knows how long it will last.
Over 90 billion people have come and gone…who did they thank when they left?
No taxis lined up in the street. Where do people go when they leave this party?

The billions who have left closed the door tightly behind them. All we can do is dance and wonder…and I find more of us dancing than wondering.

Is there some reason for this party, or this all just a neighbourhood drop in on a Friday night?
Maybe there’s something interesting going on.
